Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
Overview
Passport Rank ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website passportrank.org. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what is necessary to operate and improve the service.
Information We Collect
Passport Rank does not require you to create an account or log in. We do not collect any personally identifiable information directly. The following data may be collected automatically:
- Usage data — pages visited, time on page, clicks, referrer URL, browser type, device type, and approximate geographic location (country/region level) via analytics services.
- IP address — collected transiently by our hosting provider and analytics services for security and aggregated reporting.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate analytics and advertising features. Cookies are small files stored on your device.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the site (pages viewed, session duration, traffic sources). This data is aggregated and anonymized.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense to serve relevant advertisements. These cookies may track your browsing behavior across sites to personalise ads.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can manage ad personalisation via Google Ad Settings. Most browsers also allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process data about your visit:
- Google Analytics — web analytics platform. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense — advertising platform. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- OpenStreetMap / CartoDB (Carto) — map tile provider used to render the interactive world map. Tile requests may include your IP address. Governed by Carto's Privacy Policy and the OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy.
How We Use Your Data
- To understand how visitors use the site and improve the experience.
- To serve relevant advertisements that help fund the free service.
- To monitor for security issues and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for any purpose beyond what is described in this policy.
Data Retention
Analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months by default. Hosting server logs are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes and then deleted. We do not store any personal data on our own servers beyond what your browser sends in standard HTTP requests.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable law including:
- GDPR (EU/EEA residents) — right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and data portability. You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
- CCPA (California residents) — right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
Because we collect minimal data and primarily rely on third-party processors (Google), the most effective way to exercise these rights is through the third-party tools linked in the Cookies section above, or by contacting us at privacy@passportrank.org.
Children's Privacy
Passport Rank is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
